A Picture of Waste

Each marker color on the map below represents a different trash hauler. There are 12 different haulers in this relatively small area with each block having 5-8 different haulers each.

I doubt this would pass Craig’s does-this-make-any-@#$^$!-sense test. My good friend, a nuclear physicist who isn’t one to gloss over the details, once told me that if you can’t satisfactorily explain your reasoning to a fourth-grader, then it’s unlikely you have a firm grasp of it.

This particular survey was done in the fall of 2013. It is possible that some changes have been made since then or that there were mistakes with data entry. Nevertheless, this map still gives us a pretty good picture of the problem.
